[Updated] Register Now for Winter 2020/21

Updated 2020-09-30: Hello ARL Players – Registration is pretty much done and many teams are full. Roster spots are about 98% full league wide.

We need one goalie in D5.

Right now players will only be slotted in available roster spots. Specific requests will be very difficult to accommodate. We are unable to expand because we do not have the demand for goalies to justify going up by two teams in any division.

  • D1
    • SOLD OUT
  • D2
    • SOLD OUT
  • D3
    • SOLD OUT
  • D4B
    • Green Lanterns – 1 Female
    • White Walkers – 1 Female
  • D5
    • SOLD OUT

Please spread the word, especially to female skaters. We can get female players in from D2 through D4.

Strict deadline is Sunday September 13th, or as roster spots are taken. The league will likely sell out before Sunday though. All of this is in advance of a Friday October 2nd season opener.

Players who can’t be immediately placed on a roster will be put on a wait list.

Thank you!

Original Post:

Hello everyone,

It’s been one roller coaster of a year. We may have lost half a year of hockey, but we’re looking to turn that around in the only way we know how:

Registrations are now open for the Winter 2020/21 season.

The season will kick off on October 2nd and conclude on April 11th for a total of 25 games. As always, the league remains Co-Ed, is open to participates 21+ years of age, and promotes a beginner-friendly style of play.

Alas, we cannot forget we are still in the middle of a global pandemic, which means certain changes need to be made in order to enjoy the sport while staying safe. A snippet of the changes include the following (subject to being amended as the season goes on, in accordance with provincial and health ministry guidelines):

  • Smaller Teams (maximum of 12 players and 1 goalie, per game)
  • Less face-offs, less stoppages
  • 2 periods of run-time, no switching ends
  • No post-game handshake
  • No spectators
  • Mandatory face masks in the facility at all times (but can be removed to play)

Also being introduced is a COVID-19 waiver, which must be accepted by all participates (in addition to the normal terms and conditions).

More information is available on the Register page.

We are working hard with the various arenas, the municipality and Wave Sports to ensure all participates enjoy the game as close to “normal” as possible while introducing important health and safety measures.

As always, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

And finally, thank you all for your continued support and all the encouraging feedback (and constructive criticisms) we’ve received over the past few months. We wouldn’t still have this league without all of you!

Stay safe and see you on the ice,
The ARL Committee

P.S. If you paid for the defunct Summer 2020, have not yet received your refund (93% are processed but a few are still in queue!), and plan on signing up for this season, contact us and let us know. We can put the payment towards this registration instead.
