Return to Play – W2021/22

Hello ARL Players,

We are happy to announce that the ARL will resume play in October. Here is the plan.

OVERVIEW

The 2021/2022 season will begin on Friday October 15th/Sunday October 17th and end on February 27, 2022.

As previously communicated, the Winter 2020/21 has been deemed a write-off.

With rosters already created, so many games left unplayed, and registration fees already paid, we determined the best course of action is have a shortened Winter 2021/2022 season.

This will include 14 regular season games, then 3 playoff games and conclude with the Championship Weekend, for a total of 18 games.

The teams and divisions will remain the same as they were in W2020/21, but stats and standings will start fresh.

REGISTRATION DETAILS AND DEADLINES

The deadline for returning players to confirm their intent to continue playing is September 3rd. Failure to confirm your registration by this time may result in being put on a waiting list.

New players can register from September 4th through September 30th and will be slotted in across the league wherever vacancies exist on a team by team and division by division basis.

Initially, our goal is to maintain existing teams and add newly registered players to round out those rosters.

We WILL NOT look at shuffling players from team to team and through divisions until late September/early October when the full scope of registrations can be assessed.

FOR THOSE RETURNING

Since all registration fees for the 2020/21 season have already been paid, there are no additional fees for the 2021/22 season.

Returning players from 2020/21 must register to confirm their spot on the same team roster they were on previously.

Please use the button below if you paid in full for the Winter 2020/21 season and will be returning for 2021/22.

Teams

There will be 30 teams in total, just like the 2020/21 season. Unlike the 2020/21 season, teams won’t be limited to 12+1 (Skaters+Goalie). For the 2021/22 season, we will be returning to 15+1.

This means there will be spots available on September 4th. If you had friends/family/previous teammates who missed out on the 2020/21 season, give them this date.

Pricing

For new players, the following fees will apply:

Player Registration – $375+tx

Goalie Registration – $175+tx

Any changes to pricing will be posted on the Registration page when it opens.

FOR THOSE NOT RETURNING

Those not returning can be refunded based on the following:

  • Once we are notified of your plans not to return.
  • When your jersey and socks have been returned to the Wave office.
  • Your roster spot has been replaced by a newly registered player.

In order to make this process a seamless transition non returning players are asked to do the following:

  1. Submit the Return To Play form indicating you will not be returning.
  2. You will receive an email in the next few hours (or days, depending on our workload) confirming the refund process has started.
  3. Drop off your jersey and socks in a clearly marked bag along with your name, team and email address, to the Wave Twin Rinks.
  4. The Wave will let us know when this has been received.
  5. We will then refund you as soon as we replace your spot on a roster with a newly registered player.

The refund will be in the form of an E-Transfer. Please know that the entire process will take some time, so we do appreciate your patience in advance.

Please use the button below if you paid in full for the Winter 2020/21 season and will not be returning for 2021/22.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

We are working hard with the various arenas, the municipality and Wave Sports to ensure all participates enjoy the game as close to “normal” as possible while introducing important health and safety measures.

The following protocols will be set in place until further notice:

  • Less face-offs, less stoppages
  • 2 periods of run-time, no switching ends
  • No post-game handshake
  • Mandatory face masks in the facility at all times (but can be removed to play)

COVID-19 waiver, which must be accepted by all participants. This is still in addition to the normal terms and conditions.

The rules for the 2021/22 season are still under review and will remain fluid based the COVID-19 landscape.

More information will be made available on the Rules page prior to the beginning of the season.

IN CLOSING

As always, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

And finally, thank you all for your continued support and all the encouraging feedback (and constructive criticisms) we’ve received over the past few months. We wouldn’t still have this league without all of you!

Stay safe and see you on the ice!
