The ARL Playoffs are Here!
Our first-ever winter regular season of play is complete and the stats have been placed in our Hall of Fame! Congratulations to everyone on a great season so far.
Now that we are moving into the playoffs, there are a few things we would like to note.
**All playoff scheduling information is on the website at http://www.rookiehockey.ca/ARL_Calendar.htm
**Our teams have been divided into two divisions based on the standings (determined two weeks prior)
**You will notice that there are 5 playoff games – one complete round robin. Playoffs can tend to become a bit more intense than the usual weekly games so please try and keep in mind that it is still the ARL and we're all there for the same reasons: fun, social, safe hockey!
**No poolies are allowed to play during the playoffs
**We will be mentioning to the refs that we want all aggressive plays called – just as normal
**On a penalty shot YOUR CAPTAIN chooses anyone they wish on your team to take the shot (doesn’t matter what skill level) – no change to our current rules. It is their prerogative.
**Have FUN!
After our final game late Friday night, we will move directly into our final championships on the next day – Saturday, April 4th. Please check the website or with your captain to find out when you play on the 4th as this will not be determined until after the Friday night games on April 3rd. Results will be posted after 1:30am after the Friday night games. Every team will play at least one game on Saturday April 4th and at the end of that full day of great hockey, we will also be adding two All-Star games. Your Captains have chosen the players for both an Advanced Rookie All-Star game and a Beginner Rookie All-Star game. We will be announcing the players for each shortly.
After the All-Star games we will host an awards ceremony upstairs in the bar at around 9:30. We are happy to announce that our host this year for the ARLies will be Nigel Sloan. Brad Roberts will also be there to DJ instead of his usual spot in net for the Etceteras.
As our winter season comes to a close, we will soon be posting on the website – a great new change to the ARL for the summer season! This change will allow the ARL and its players to grow together and the ARL become even more successful in accommodating all levels of rookie play.
Thank you to everyone for their spirit and enthusiasm and GOOD LUCK in the Playoffs!
