The ARL - After 10 Games...

The Fall/Winter season is now well under way!  Great job to all ARL members... Player's, goalies, captains, coaches.  You've all played a part in getting things off to a great start.  We've done a few trades, a bit of shuffling around of players and goalies, and we seem to have come up with a good mix of teams that play well against each other.  It's been great to see all you super-star Rookies passing that puck to our Newbies and giving them the encouragement that they need.  We have to continue to remember that our games are all about having fun, socializing and getting some exercise

In looking at how our league has evolved over the first and second season, it seems that the skill level has begun to lean more towards the more experienced Rookie.  We continue to advertise it as a league for people that have "never played hockey".  In truth now, it seems, although still Rookie hockey... the newbie to superstar ratio has changed. Please continue to welcome our true Rookie players.  We want this to still be considered a league that will welcome people that have never played the game of hockey.  But it seems we will have to tweak both our advertising and our Mission Statement a bit and make people aware that skill level, overall, is of a higher level than we were expecting. We'll be working on that – suggestions welcome.

It seems that we may be able to get some extra ice time over the Christmas break!  I will confirm that along with times etc. as soon as possible.  I think the plan will be to do a couple of 2 hour sessions including, perhaps, an hour for skills and an hour for shinny each session. I'm sure there will be many ARLers interested in both sessions. So keep an eye on our website for info on that and a sign-up form.

Many thanks to our Players, Goalies, Captains, Refs and Scorekeepers.   And to the Tipster, Jake Smith, for his weekly game predictions.  Always funny and even occasionally close to correct!  The Tipster’s comments can be found on the website off the homepage or off links next to each game set (http://www.rookiehockey.ca/ARL_Tipster.htm) or can also be found on our ARL Facebook site (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=13264954935)
Please remember we are always happy to hear any comments or suggestions.  Any input is appreciated.
