Changes Changes!
We've been listening to you, players! Thanks for your input. We have decided, with the help of all captains, that some changes need to be made to The ARL. We realize the skill level in this league varies and we need to figure out ways to give our true rookies more chance to get safely in the game, carry the puck, shoot on net. So...our newest ARL rule! No Hotdogging!
At the discretion of the ref....
The whistle will blow and a penalty shot allowed if a skilled player skates an unreasonable length of ice and takes a shot on net. The same will apply if a skilled player takes the puck away from a rookie who has a chance at a breakaway or a shot on net.
Please be patient. These rules will need some fine-tuning we know. Let's give it a couple of weeks to try them out. Give us your feedback!
We have also asked the refs to be much more diligent in calling penalties for "aggression" We want to keep this totally under control.
And last, a change in our penalty shots... to promote safety for goalies and players. The shooter will take the penalty shot. No players will follow. If the shooter scores, the whistle is blown and the puck dropped at center ice. If no goal, the whistle blows the play dead and the puck is dropped in the offending zone..left or right of goalie.
So, hopefully these will be good changes. We appreciate you all realizing that this league is new and still ironing out some of the unexpected wrinkles. We are totally dedicated to making this all as much fun for you as we know it can be. As always, suggestions and comments are appreciated.
